Updated: Mar 26, 2019

If you have been to a coffee shop recently you may have seen golden milk on the menu board. This rich golden hued warm milk drink is sweet, nourishing, good for you and has been used in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine for centuries. This one drink has antioxidant properties, is anti-inflammatory, bone nourisher and immune booster.

Golden milk, sometimes called tumeric tea, can be made with any nut, rice or cow's milk, ground tumeric, ginger coconut oil, black pepper

1 cup cow's milk, almond milk or coconut milk

1tsp ground tumeric

1/2 tsp ground ginger

1tsp coconut oil

pinch of black pepper

1/2-1tsp raw honey (optional)

In a small sauce pan, warm the milk uncovered over medium-high heat for 2-4 minutes or until you see steam rising out of the pan. Add all the other ingredients, except the honey, and whisk. Pour into a mug, sweeten with honey if desired, and drink

Tumeric contains the active ingredient curcumin. Curcumin is a powerful antioxidant that also holds anti-inflammatory properties.
